Microsoft Word 2013 logoIn the past few months, ICT Training has run training sessions in Word 2013 covering topics such as: inserting sections, page breaks, and headers/footers into your documents; adding custom tab stops and indents using ruler; and creating Table of Contents based on Word styles. Word styles have been introduced during the Accessibility training sessions. In this training session – “Working with Word 2013”  – you will use all of these features.

Starting out with an unformatted document, you will begin by building styles – a style is a saved series of formats, that can be easily reapplied throughout a document with the click of a button. You will learn about paragraph, character and number styles. In our working document, we will require various footer text, page numbers and page settings that are different than the rest of the pages – this will require the use of section breaks. We will convert existing text to a table, and will review how to add accessibility to the table. Adding accessibility to a table is another topic that is covered in the campus Accessibility training. (See the ICT Event page for upcoming Accessibility training session dates.) You will also insert a Table of Contents into the document that will track page references for you, eliminating the need to continually update page references manually. Finally, we will run the Accessibility Checker to ensure that our document meets accessibility standards.

This training is a great way to be introduced to many Word 2013 tools, as well as review what you have learned in past training sessions. (You did not have to attend the previous training sessions in order to attend this one.) Please join us!
