Wikipedia defines the word Accessibility as “…the degree to which a product, device, service, or environment is available to as many people as possible. Accessibility can be viewed as the “ability to access” and benefit from some system or entity. The concept often focuses on people with disabilities or special needs and their right of access, enabling the use of assistive technology.”
In this training session, you will learn how to use the Accessibility Checker to find content in your document that people with disabilities might find difficult to read. We will discuss the three issues that the inspection results may find:
- Error – an error is displayed for content that makes a file very difficult or impossible for people with disabilities to understand.
- Warning – a warning is displayed for content that in most, but not all, cases makes a file difficult for people with disabilities to understand.
- Tip – a tip is displayed for content that people with disabilities can understand, but the content might be better organized or presented in a way that would improve their experience.
The Accessibility Checker is very easy to use, and provides additional information on why you would want to fix an item that appears in the inspection results. It also includes details on how to fix the item to make your document accessible to people with disabilities.
