ICT Training is offering a 90-minute training session on how to design professional looking posters for your events using the Adobe InDesign application. The Maxwell School Communications department has created several templates to use as a guide. The templates are available to all Maxwell departments.
In this training, you will create a new document to help you become familiar with the InDesign application. After practicing using the tools, you will open a poster template and personalize it. Topics covered are as follows:
- The InDesign environment: Menu Bar, Control Panel, Toolbox, Panels, Document area, Pasteboard.
- Create frames that can contain graphics using the Rectangle Frame Tool, and how to add an image to the frame.
- Create frames that can contain text using the Type Tool, and how to add text to the frame.
- How to select just the image inside a frame (to replace it, or display a different part of the image) using the Direct Selection Tool.
- How to resize and move frames using the Selection Tool.
- Character and Paragraph Styles panel.
- The colors used in the templates and the Swatches panel.
