How do you use technology in your research and/or teaching?

Prior to arriving at SU, I used a two 27-inch monitor setup.  As an Aging and Life course scholar who primarily conducts quantitative analyses, I often have multiple windows open as I run statistical software programs, edit documents, answer emails, and during the pandemic- attend Zoom meetings.  The ultrawide curved screen offers me the same real estate (the equivalent of two 27-inch monitors) in one device.  This makes for an easier viewing experience that has definitely enhanced my productivity (think, no more toggling between windows or across screens).  Another benefit that I find extremely useful is the technology to reduce eye fatigue.  This is extremely helpful for long working hours!

What new technologies are you interested in using either in your teaching or for your personal use?

I am always looking out for new technologies to enhance my teaching experience.  Another device that I have found extremely helpful is the Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote.  This device allows me to better “highlight” data, figures, or other images during my lectures and presentations.  I find it very helpful for focusing on my main points, and keeping the audience engaged.

Many thanks to Assistant Professor Garcia for participating in the ICT Newsletter!
